I ordered this machine because the one I had only did forward and reverse and zig-zag and I have had it for 20 years and it still works very well,It to is a Brother. I started doing applique quilting and needed a machine that had more stitches so I ordered this machine. It was everything I had expected and it was a good price at $60.00. I priced a new one and found it was over a hundred dollars. This machine would be perfect even for a beginner. It is easy to use and can handle alot of different materials. I would highly recomend this machine.

I used to sew when I was younger, now the kids are all grown and I have more time for myself.I picked this machine for the price,simplicity, and the Brother name.
So far I am very happy with this little guy. For the price it is well worth it. It took me a few tries before I was able to thread the bobbin and load it. I've gotten better at it. For me, the speed is easy to control, it takes corners really well, and I love the reverse sewing. You don't have to do anything except flip the switch.Having only ever used a straight stitch machine, I love the choice of stitches. The tension is easy to fix (I never had any luck with that before now) I have yet to use the button hole maker,and I have not sewn in a zipper, but in time I'll feel braver! My only complaint is threading the needle, my eyes aren't what they used to be. But the machine came with three needle threaders, and that helps somewhat.
All in all this is a great little machine.I recommend it to any one who is just starting out, or just wants to replace an older machine.
