The walking foot is a moving feed system that holds and moves fabric between the presser foot's upper feed dog and the machines's lower feed dogs to better control difficult fabrics as well as multiple layers of fabric. The walking foot is great for quilting, sewing when matching prints or plaids or fabric drift is an issue. A walking foot for your sewing machine is an important accessory. The brother walking foot works great. Uses are for quilting and sewing bulky items together. Make sure you buy the correct brand for your machine. I would not try to switch from brother to singer. This is a reasonable price. When you buy them separate from machine they cost more. If you get them in a bundle, jump on it.
Despite the fact that this is advertised as a "Brother SA140" "manufactured by Brother" and uses the image from the Brother website, the seller will not provide a Brother part. Rather, I received a cheap copy, which I won't use on my machine. Save yourself the time and shop elsewhere for the real part.
